Kathedraal van / Cathedral of Palma - La Seu

Tijdens ons bezoek aan Palma ontkom je niet aan de gotische Kathedraal van Palma, La Seu.
Het is een van de belangrijkste schatten van de Balearen en wordt gezien als een van de belangrijkste gotische bouwwerken
van Spanje. De bouw ervan startte rond 1300 op de plaats van de oude moskee door Jaume 2 en duurde zo'n 300 jaar.
During our visited at Palma you didn’t escape to the gothic Cathedral from Palma, La Seu. It’s one of the
most important gothic bulwarks from the Balearic Islands and Spain. The year of beginning from the building was nearby
1300 and stays on the place from the old mosque door Jaume 2 and continues about 300 years.

In de eerste helft van de 15e eeuw stond de bouw onder toezicht van de vooraanstaande beeldhouwer en architect
Guillem Sagrera. De kathedraal werd in 1851 deels verwoest door een aardbeving en werd daarna hersteld door Juan Bautista
Peyronnet. Het interieur werd in het begin van de 20ste eeuw gemoderniseerd door Antoni Gaudi.
In the first part of the 15e century was the Cathedral build at the supervision from the important sculptor and
architect Guillem Sagrera. The Cathedral was in 1851 destroyed trough an earthquake and was rebuild trough Juan Bautista
Peyronnet. The interior is modernized in the beginning from the 20de century trough Antoni Gaudi.

De gotische kerk is 109,5 meter lang en 33 meter breed. Doordat de kerk in verschillend eeuwen is gebouwd of verbouwd
komen we verschillende stijlen tegen. Het is begonnen met een sobere Catalonische gotische stijl. Daarna late gotiek,
14e-15e eeuw. De renaissance werd geïntroduceerd in de 16e eeuw. Daarna kwam de Barok gevolgd door Neoklassieke stijl.
Tot slot werd door Antoni Gaudi het modernisme in de kerk gebracht.
In ieder geval is het zeker de moeite waard om de kerk te bezichtigen. Van binnen maar ook van buiten. Vooral vanuit de
haven heeft men een prachtig gezicht op de Kathedraal.
The gothic church is 109,5m long and 33m wide. Because the church in different centuries is build or rebuild did you
see different styles in the church. It’s begins with the sober Catatonic gothic style. Afterwards the late gothic
14e-15e century. The Renaissance was introduced at the 16e century. Followed at the Baroque and the Neo-classic style.
At least the modernisation trough Antoni Gaudi.
It’s the trouble worth for visiting the church, inside or outside. You see a magnificent church. From the harbour
you have a beautiful sight of the Cathedral.
